Staff at the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation are trying to come to terms with passing off one of their colleagues, Malakai Qaqacava – the host of the popular iTaukei television show Cucurui.
Qaqacava who passed away at his home in Navuakece Village, Naitasiri yesterday, is described as a vibrant and cheerful man who will be dearly missed not only by fellow staff but his followers on radio and television.
The 45-year-old also hosted a talk-back show Na Vakakeli on Radio Fiji One where he used to delve into topical issues.
Speaking to FBC News, Qaqacava’s aunt Keresi Nailawa described him as a people’s person and a much-respected man in his village.
Qaqacava was the head of the family, caring for his six siblings after his parents passed away.
Funeral details are still being worked out.
