The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation staff got together today to celebrate its sixty-fourth birthday.

On July 1st in 1954, FBC’s first program was broadcast as part of the official opening ceremony.

One of FBC’s oldest staff, Producer and Presenter of Radio Fiji Two, Noor Jahan while explaining how they worked back then says FBC has come a long way.

“The presenter only presented whatever program was to be presented and there was a technician to operate the technical side of the studio and machines and all that. But now it is all computerized and the journey from manual to this computerization it has been phenomenal and very exciting and challenging also but I have been enjoying it.”

FBC has since come a long way and is now the only multi-media company in the country.

It now has six radio stations two in each language and three free to air TV channels.
