A fault at the Wailoa Power Station caused the blackout around Viti Levu yesterday.

The Wailoa Power station supplies the bulk of the electricity needs of VitiLevu.

FEA chief executive Hasmukh Patel says engineers managed to establish and rectify the fault.

“I am not in a position to talk on the issue. We are in the process of restoring power supply throughout Viti Levu. Once that is done then I will be able to comment.”

While they were at work the Diesel Power Stations were operated to cater for supply to key areas in the various towns and cities.

Power supply to all the customers were fully restores after five in the afternoon.
