Fasting for Ramadan begins today

Muslims around the country will begin their month-long fast from today.

This comes after the new moon was sighted last night.

The sighting of the moon marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan during which Muslims all around the world will be fasting from crack of dawn to dusk.

Ramadhan is considered a very auspicious month for Muslims.

Eid will be celebrated after 40 days of fasting.
