Agriculture Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy

Farmers are being urged to take advantage of the initiatives provided by the government and consider agriculture as a business venture.

Agriculture Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy, says the Ministry will soon identify farmers in the Northern Division and will advise them on what particular crops they should produce.

Dr Reddy says they are focusing on farmers specific interests and will start linking them to specific markets.

“When I say your interest in mind, I mean we want every farmer to do well. We want every farmer to get maximum output from his farm whether the farmer is planting pineapple, rice or livestock we want the farmer to do well.”

Dr. Reddy says they will be recommending exportable crops which can be stored for extended periods of time while still maintaining its quality.

He says this will contribute positively towards Fiji’s economy and GDP.
