The first cane payment was made five weeks after the crushing season ends.

The first cane payment was sixty percent of this year’s forecast price which is $65.68.

Chetty says the Lautoka and Rarawai Sugar Mill farmers will receive their payments before the end of this month.

The Labasa mill will end the crushing season on the 19th of this month.

Their second cane payment will be made three days before Christmas.

Chetty says the third and fourth cane payments will be made in March and May next year based on the sale of molasses and sugar.
