Farmers angry over delayed payment

Dairy farmers have raised their concerns over delays in their payments for the past two weeks.

Gyan Prasad –a farmer says this has been the norm for quite some time now and has had to go home empty handed after delivering their milk to Fiji Dairy Cooperative LTD.

“I am really frustrated about it because this has been an ongoing issue and I have raise my concern with authorities nothing is being happened.”

Meanwhile Fiji Dairy Cooperative Limited chairman Joseva Seruilagilagi says the change in ownership of the company has been the main cause of delay in payment of farmers.

“The Fiji Dairy Limited and the Fiji Cooperative Dairy have just had this changeover last Friday and we have few changes in accounts .We have already solved that issue today and by tomorrow farmers will get their pay.”

Southern Cross Foods Limited now owns the company.
