Farmer sentenced for cultivating drugs

A vegetable farmer in Sigatoka has been sentenced to one year nine months imprisonment for a drug related charges.

Sanjeev Kumar pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs and one count of unlawful possession of 279.8 grams of marijuana.

Prosecution confirms Police raided his house and uprooted five plants of marijuana weighing 1208.5 grams.

The marijuana plants were uprooted and taken to the Police Station in Sigatoka.
