Farmer remanded for various sexual offence charges

A 61-year-old farmer who allegedly committed multiple sexual related offences on seven young girls in Kadavu has been remanded in custody by the Suva Magistrates court.

The farmer appeared in the Suva Magistrates court this afternoon charged with eight counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault, six counts of indecent assault and six counts of indecently insulting a person.

It’s alleged that the man committed the offence from 2011 to 2017 on different victims.

The seven victims involved are between the ages of nine and thirteen years.

The accused is alleged to have sexually assaulted the victims when they came to his canteen in a village in Kadavu.

The Magistrates court has transferred four of his matter to the High court while three matters will be called in the Suva Magistrates court on 8th June.
