A 30-year-old farmer who allegedly caused the death of a 30-year-old man in Nakasi in August was released on bail by the Suva High Court.
Ratu Semi Kabakaba Degei of Waila Nausori is charged with one count of manslaughter, one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and one count of drinking and driving.
The accident occurred at around 7am on 24th August at the junction of Vavalagi Road in Nakasi when the accused who is alleged to have been driving under the influence of alcohol hit the victim who was walking with a 26-year-old co-worker.
Degei has been released on $1, 000 bail with two sureties in the same sum.
He has been ordered not to reoffend while on bail, to report to Nakasi police station every Monday and to surrender all travel documents and not to leave Viti Levu.
The matter has been adjourned to 27th of next month.
