Farmer gets four years imprisonment for cultivating marijuana

A 28-year-old farmer has been sentenced to four years imprisonment for cultivating marijuana.

Alipate Vuicakau pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful cultivation of an illicit drug in the Labasa High Court.

The Court heard a raid was conducted by police officers on Vuicakau’s farm on December 22nd last year and 21 marijuana plants were uprooted.

He has a non-parole sentence of three years.
