Farmer cops eight-year jail term for rape

A twenty-one-year-old farmer has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment for raping a twenty-eight-year-old school teacher.

The man had pleaded guilty to his charges.

The Lautoka High Court heard that the incident happened in February this year.

The victim was sleeping with her daughter when the man forcefully entered her house through a window.

The Court heard that when he was confronted by the victim, he covered her mouth and took her to the victim’s room where her daughter was sleeping.

He raped the school teacher and later apologized before leaving her house.

The Court was told that the man was drunk.

He has a non-parole sentence of six years.
