Support from family and the community is an integral part for people living with disabilities.

Pacific Disability Forum CEO Setareki Macanawai made this statement as the Pacific Disability Forum Conference in Nadi currently underway.

This was a topic of discussion as it continues to be a challenge faced by many who are living with the disability.

“That’s why the family support is critical so that persons with disability are part of the family so that they can also contribute.”
Macanawai also says that people living with disabilities are often seen as a burden for families.

He says families should include them often in daily activities.
