Families of patriots receive new homes

July 15, 2017 1:18 am

The families of four patriots who lost their lives in the 2000 coup received the keys and titles to their new homes in Wainibuku, Nakasi this morning.

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama while doing the handing, said Fiji is a vastly different place than it was seventeen years ago and people should focus on building a better Fiji.

“Patriots just like the six Fijians we lost 17 years ago have built the Fiji we know today. And their legacy lives on. It lives on in the men, women and children all across our island, who can access opportunity like never before. It lives on in the common identity we have forged for all of our citizens and it lives on in my own mind, as Prime Minister. I strive to do what is best for every Fijian and build a better Fiji.”

Bainimarama says the loss these families have experienced cannot be replaced or repaired with bricks and mortar but we must not forget what happened in 2000.
