Facelift for Suva Handicraft centre to attract more tourists

With around 140 thousand dollars being poured into the renovations of the Suva Handicraft and Curios Centre Bure, vendors are excited about the uplift and the potential to attract more of the tourist dollar.

President of the Suva Handicrafts and Manufacturers Association, Mahendra Singh says 23 vendors use the Bure section and the long overdue refurbishment is expected to bring in more tourists.

“And most of the tourists and locals and even local NGOs and business, you name it, you know, we have established ourselves this business here, we have established ourselves.”

According to the Suva City Council’s Acting CEO, Bijay Chand, the entire roof of the Bure will be replaced and the section will also be repainted.

New signage is also expected for the centre which will clearly identify the tourist hot spot.
