Eye care officers from the region and Fiji have been urged to work together and deliver adequate and quality eye service in the Pacific.

Minister for Health Jone Usamate says participants will not only elaborate on ways of Eliminating Avoidable Blindness in the Pacific as discussions will also involve major health issues concerning the Pacific region.

‘’Major eye health conditions and diseases in the Western Pacific include cataract, uncorrected refractive error, Vitamin A deficiency, glaucoma and trachoma. Non-communicable disease such as diabetes and related eye diseases constitute a fast growing problem for the region’’.
