January 2, 2018 11:36 pm

The public can expect a lot of police visibility on our roads during the start of the first school term.

Police Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu says this is to ensure the new school year starts off incident-free and that children return to school safely.

ACP Tudravu says officers will be deployed to areas early in the morning and afternoon to assist in crossings and traffic management.

”All our officers in various divisions are made aware of that so there are strategies that are in place and we will be there to provide school patrols and control traffic movements to all the schools that are near the roads and we have already those plans in place. So we should expect a full turn out of our officers as school starts this year.”

Police will also be working with the Land Transport Authority to ensure drivers and pedestrians adhere to the road rules.

Meanwhile, the school will begin on the 16th of this month.
