Excitement looms for Drua festival

Seven canoes representing each country in the Pacific are now on their way to Levuka.

Its one of the last stops in an extensive Pacific voyage.

Fiji Voyaging Society volunteer Marty Williams says each boat in the fleet is using its own traditional navigation system.

“The traditional welcome accorded to them will be to acknowledge the efforts undertaken by the participants in the traditional use of canoes. The awareness and the efforts is tremendous and is also environmental friendly.”

A week-long program is being planned for the public and enthusiasts starting Monday.
