Ex- couple front court on corruption-related charges

Two people facing corruption-related charges appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon.

A former clerk for the Department of Heritage and Arts Rosalia Muavesi is charged with one count each of conspiracy to defraud, obtaining financial advantage and forgery.

It is alleged that she forged and used receipts as false claims for Transport Hire from her former employers and obtained $660 between March and April this year.

Her ex-husband Nick Stark is charged with one count each of conspiracy to defraud and aiding and abetting.

It is alleged that he helped his wife commit the above acts.

The two have been released on strict bail conditions and a Stop Departure Order has been issued against them.

The matter has been adjourned to January 16th, 2020.
