Every person has the right to practice their religion freely without fear.
Police Commissioner, Brigadier General, Sitiveni Qiliho, says it is concerning to see that sacrilege acts are still happening.
Qiliho says they have received reports of break in’s, vandalism and damaging of properties in certain temples from around the country.
“If there are conversations that are taking place and encouraging such activities then please correct those who are talking on this issue and tell them the right way that things should be. There’s no other way except the right way. That is peaceful coexistence or religious tolerance and that is very important for everyone.”
Meanwhile, police received a report of a break-in at the Vishnu Bhavan Temple in Nausori on Tuesday where suspects allegedly tore religious books, damaged idols and vandalized walls.
Police investigation continues.
