Everyone needs to play their part in keeping Fiji clean and beautiful.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made this comment when Divesh Narayan questioned AG as to what is being done to address issues of pollution around the country.

Sayed-Khaiyum says Fijians need to report cases of people burning toxic material that can cause air pollution.

Narayan during the live Facebook consultation for the 2019/2020 National Budget also raised concerns of deteriorating health of our children due to air pollution.

He also said that litter laws in place are not followed by many and these people are not fined.

Responding to this, the Attorney-General said that we have laws that govern the burning of rubbish under Regulation 21 of the Environment Management Regulations 2007 but people need to play their role.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this will be raised with the Ministry of Waterways and Environment to create more awareness among the relevant agencies, including the police force.
