The relationship between Fiji and the European Union (EU) has, since the successful September 2014 General Elections, improved immensely.

Ambassador Jacobs says 2015 has been a strong year of partnership.

“We have worked very effectively with a range of partners both in Fiji and around the Pacific and I think the European Year of Development has cemented our partnership with a wide range of organisations and people.”

Ambassador Jacobs says the EU is also pleased with the signing of a new national indicative program for development cooperation with Fiji until 2020.

This agreement will provide $65m dollars in the areas of Agriculture, Sugar and access to Justice in Fiji.
