EU coordinates $46.72m programme

The European Union and the Australian Government have partnered to coordinate 46.72 million dollar programme in Fiji and other Pacific Island countries.

Head of Corporation at the EU Delegation for the Pacific, Christoph Wagner says the programme aims at addressing the issue of domestic violence and gender based violence in Fiji.

Wagner says this is the region’s largest single project to date which brings together a number of stakeholders.

“It brings together government and also other stakeholders, community leaders, religious organizations , sport organizations and civil society at large with the same purpose to end violence against women and girls.”

Wagner says this Partnership will ensure victims have access to quality response services.

The European Union is committed to empowering Women and the elimination of all forms of violence against women and children.
