Equal treatment begins with common identity: Bhatnagar

Letting people feel like they have an identity crisis is the biggest injustice to citizens of any country.

Assistant Minister for Women Veena Bhatnagar says equal treatment begins with equal identity, and for far too long, this had not been realized in Fiji.

Bhatnagar says common identity has brought a sense of national pride for all Fijians.

“Our beloved Fiji is the epitome of the way the world should be. Multiracialism, Cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue are valuable elements of making Fiji just that.”

Bhatnagar says every individual who claims that common identity is a mistake is unable to see how it is the basis of equal treatment at all levels.
