Epidemic preparedness to be discussed in Fiji this week

Members of the Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network (PPHSN) will gather in Nadi tomorrow to discuss how to strengthen preparedness to epidemics of infectious diseases and other public health emergencies in the region.

A newly established training and capacity development programme for ‘Strengthening Health Interventions in the Pacific’ will be featured at the meeting.

Participants will also work on regional performance indicators for the services of the PPHSN network which will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year.

Organised by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in consultation with PPHSN partners, the meeting will gather over 50 public health laboratory and surveillance officials from across the Pacific.
