Hundreds of people were left mesmerized by the voice of 16-year-old Meghna Goundar who launched her first album “Kya Ho Gaya” in Suva last night.

The Album features five original romantic songs which have been endorsed by T-Series, a well-known music label in India.

Goundar says she discovered her love for singing at the tender age of four
and took her cue from her father who used to sing in a band known as millennium orchestra.

“When I saw my dad practices all Indian song I got more curious about music. I joined him for his practice so he is my first guru. My aim of doing all this is to encourage younger ones who are interested but are lacking some kind of effort. My aim is to encourage them to take a step forward as Fiji is not well known in Bollywood.”

Meanwhile, Waterways Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy who was the guest at the launch says this album proves there is a need to invest more to promote local talent.

“We haven’t really invested in the infrastructure for music in this country for so long. Today we see our own artist doing her recording in one of India’s leading brand T-Series.”

Goundar plans to launch more albums in the near future and hopes to be part of Bollywood’s music industry someday.
