"Gully Boy": Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt bring alive underground hip-hop

Gully Boy will see Ranveer Singh return to the genre of cinema that he’s done quite well in.

Based on the life of Divine (Vivian Fernandes) and Naezy (Naved Shaikh), underground rappers from Mumbai and their journey from the lanes of the city to acquiring popularity, ‘

Ranveer Singh’s recent outing ‘Simmba’ saw him play a loud, over-the-top, brash cop in his self-confessed first-ever masala film.

The audience accepted the film with much love, as it’s on its way to becoming one of Ranveer’s highest-earning films.

While Ranveer has worked with his co-star Alia Bhatt in a few commercials, the audience’s attention was piqued ever since they were announced as the protagonists of ‘Gully Boy’.

Alia is also basking in glory with her last film ‘Raazi’ proving to be a hit with the masses and the critics alike.

The young superstars, after a supremely successful 2018, are now entering the new year with another film that appears promising.

Zoya Akhtar marks her return to ‘Gully Boy’ after a hiatus of almost four years after her last film ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, which also starred Ranveer.
