July 27, 2018 12:48 am

Political leaders attacking those of different ethnicity and those of different religion on social media is completely unacceptable.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama made this statement while speaking at the University of the South Pacific Open Day today.

Bainimarama has urged students and all young Fijians to work together and shut the door for any attempts to divide Fiji along ethnic, religious or communal lines.

“We only beat back those old forces when the vast majority of Fijians came together and finally said, enough is enough. It was only through the will of the Fijian people, the will of your parents, your grandparents and even your great grandparents, that we emerged as a united nation, after all those lost years.”

Bainimarama says they will continue their mandate to unite Fiji and bring sound management to the economy.

The Prime Minister has also urged students to make good use of the educational opportunities provided by the government.
