Employers to comply with new minimum wage rate: Usamate

The Ministry of Employment will not be able to monitor all employers complying with the new national minimum wage rate of $2.68.

However, Minister Jone Usamate says they will target some of the employers.

“We do know however the sectors that tend to be the ones that infringe on these regulations. So within our set up, we will target those particular sectors.

Usamate says the major call is for organizations to self-regulate themselves.

He is urging members of the public to report to them if they know anyone who is being paid less than what they should get.

Meanwhile, Usamate is holding consultations in the Central division and will move to the West later this week.
