The Ministry of Education is developing a policy on the use of mobile phones and electronic devices in schools.
Minister for Education Mahendra Reddy says a draft of the ICT Policy is expected to be finalized at the end of this month.
‘’The policy has to look at the whole ICT development in light of the ICT development do that it will take quite a bit of time’’.
The Fijian Teachers Association President Gauna Halofaki says the use of electronic gadgets has to be controlled since it’s a way of communication between parents and students while the Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary Agni Deo says electronic gadgets and mobile phone have to be used appropriately.
The push to develop the policy comes after an 18 year old student died last month from self inflicted burns after a teacher allegedly publicly read her text messages.
