The Electoral Commission met with senior officials of registered political parties yesterday.
It says all parties except the Freedom Alliance party were present at the meeting.
Chair Suresh Chandra says it was an opportune time from the Commission to communicate with these officials, particularly to hear any issues they may be facing, as well as to deal with any other ongoing procedural matters.
The Political Parties were also informed that the Commission will not be seeking any further changes to the Electoral System and will be taking the country to elections based on the current legal framework and the Electoral System.
Chandra says this will ensure that all preparations put into the Electoral process are useful in the conduct of the General Election.
During the discussions, Party officials were also briefed on the ongoing activities of the Fijian Elections Office as well as legal requirements they may have to look out for closer to the Election.
