Elections voter registrations begin in Labasa

Voter registrations for students who turn 18 this year have begun in Labasa.

Staff members from the Elections Office were at All Saints Secondary School to register students for the 2018 elections.

A total of 82 new registrations were recorded at the school.

Deputy Supervisor of Elections Michael Clancy says while registration is not compulsory the Elections team is ensuring that young people have all the information they need to make an informed choice.

There are 178 secondary schools and the Elections Office hopes to register students who are 18 years and above.

Voter registration also got underway in the Central and Western divisions today.

Potential voters in the maritime areas can expect to register next week.
