The Fijian Elections Office will consider the 21 recommendations put forward by the Multinational Observer Group in regards to the 2018 General Election.
Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem confirms they’ve received the formal report and are thoroughly going through it.
Saneem says they will also analyze and assess the report in terms of the applicability and its usefulness.
“The multi-national group has found that the 2018 General Election was fair and credible and that it reflected the will of the Fijian people. We also note that the multi-national observer group found that the conditions were in place for Fijians to exercise their right to vote freely and this means that the conditions for a free and fair election were met.”
Meanwhile, MOG released its report on the 2018 Election yesterday, calling it well-administered, with voting and counting transparent and credible.
The group noted that the security environment was peaceful and the campaign competitive, adding that conditions overall supported Fijians to exercise their right to vote freely and the outcome broadly represented the will of the voters.
