The election management units offered at the University of the South Pacific will help the Pacific Island Countries improve on the manner elections are conducted in the region.

Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says those enrolling in this course will also be able to learn about new technology that can be used during elections.

Sayed-Khaiyum says those enrolling in the units offered at the University on the other hand need to remove politics out of election management.

“We need the ability of people to be able to assess electoral management from an objective prospective, from a non-political perspective, because then, it will ensure we have true democracy.”

Sayed-Khaiyum says with the course being offered, many people can also choose a career in this field.
