EFL to establish more renewable energy schemes

The Government’s ongoing rural electrification project initiative will cater for the extension of the Energy Fiji Limited’s grid to rural communities and install new solar systems.

EFL’s Chief Executive, Hasmukh Patel says they’re trying to ensure they establish more renewable energy schemes in the next 4 to 5 years.

Patel says millions of dollars are being spent by the government via EFL to construct these projects and electrify Fiji.

“The Government has already made this decision that we want to make sure that there is access of electricity to all Fijians by 2021.”

The government allocated $42.6 million for the rural electrification project this year.
