The efforts of members of the public who assisted in the arrest of two people over the weekend has been recognised.

Divisional Police Commander West SSP Marika Kotoisuva says on Christmas morning, a local Pilot had just gotten off a Taxi at Navakai, when an unknown person grabbed his bag.

A few meters away, a man who saw what had happened apprehended the suspect and called the Police.

SSP Kotoisuva says two days after, a 54 year old man who had allegedly assaulted his wife was brought to the Nadi Police Station by another member of the public.

SSP Kotoisuva has acknowledged the brave acts of the two men and at the same time urging members of the public to contact his officers if they feel assisting will pose a safety risk.
