Archbishop Father Peter Loy Chong
“We are not discriminating and whatever we are asking for is our lawful right”.
This is the response made by Archbishop Father Peter Loy Chong in relation to comments made by the Human Rights and Anti Discrimination Commission chair, Ashwin Raj.
Father Loy Chong says they need the leadership to fit in to the special character and the leader should be a Catholic.
“We are not discriminating. What we are interested in is that we support and protect the special catholic character of our school and to be able to do that we need the leaders to be catholic as we want them to pass on the important values which we have.”
Father Loy Chong says religious communities have the right to provide religious instructions as part of any education.
