USP commended for internationally accredited Engineering courses

Minister for Infrastructure, Jone Usamate has commended USP for the international accreditation of their engineering courses.

Usamate says there is a dire need for qualified engineers and previously Fijians wanting to take up the skilled profession had to fork out for schooling abroad which led to many missing out.

“I notice from the program at USP that their engineering program, they have an affiliation with the New Zealand Institute of Engineers which is I believe it meets the standards of the Washington Accord.  The Washington Accord is the international benchmark for engineering trade so I think that is very noteworthy and something that the USP needs to be congratulated for being able to produce engineers that meet the standard of the Washington Accord.”
