The Education Ministry is trying to move away from a teacher’s centered approach for teaching to learner’s centered approach for teaching.
This was highlighted by Permanent Secretary for Education, Alison Burchell during a Catholic forum this week.
Burchell says all these are rolled up in the Open merit process where changes can be made along with improvements and to equip our children for the future.
“ We are not going to be around to face it with them .We need to give them the tools to go out and ensure that they get a job that they becoming economically productive, that they are able to feed their families and that they are able to help the economy of Fiji continue to grow.”
Meanwhile, Burchell adds the ministry wants to ensure that leaders of a school must be able to guide and mentor teachers and students in school.
