The use of government subsidized blue e-ticketing card will be restricted during the school holidays.

Permanent Secretary for Education, Alison Burchell says this is due to the increasing abuse of the cards.

The Ministry is urging students using these subsidized blue cards to get their supplementary red card for travel during school holidays.

“Term ends on the 22nd of November this year so, therefore, from the 23rd of November and the remaining balance from the blue cards will be available for use from the 13th of January. From term one next year, there will be a restriction on the blue cards for students so they will be operational from 6.30 in the morning to 9.00 am then again from 2.30 pm to 5 pm and this will be in weekdays.”

Burchell adds there will be only one tap allowed every 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority this year confiscated around 143 cards as they were being misused.
