Designing and drawing has become an integral part of the business world today – from magazines, websites, billboards to even product packaging.

This is what led 19-year-old Josaia Matasawalevu to enroll for Certificate IV in Graphic Design at the Fiji National University.

Creativity has been one of the strong suits for the young student.

Matasawalevu says free drawing has always been his biggest passion and this was further boosted when two of his colleagues from his village enrolled in the same programme last year.

He says with vibrant designs through graphic designing, messages can be conveyed clearly and effectively.

Matasawalevu is keen to explore the technologies and software used in the field of graphics design for effective communication of messages through appealing designs.

Aunt, Sala Tamani was instrumental in ensuring Matasawalevu gets enrolled in a programme which would enable her young nephew to strive in a career so dear to him.

Matasawalevu will join FNU’s College of Humanities and Education.
