30 youth graduate from national program

Thirty Fijian youths graduated from the National Youth Band Program at the Youth Training Centre yesterday in Valelevu.

Officiating at the graduation, the new Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Jone Nemani noted that the National Youth Band Program has been one of the standout programs of the Ministry”.

The aim he says of the program is to provide theoretical and practical training in music so that they can better their chances of finding employment in the music industry.

Sekaia Tawake, 18, who hails from Burerua in Tailevu, scooped the award for the Best Overall Trophy and is optimistic joining the Fiji Military Forces Band soon.

Equally optimistic is Aseri Waqanisauvaki, 18, from Gusuisavu village in Naitasiri who was awarded the Most Progressive Student Trophy as he looks forward to finding employment soon either in the Fiji Police Band or the Fiji Military Forces Band.
