Education Ministry uses $6.85m for capital projects

Six point eight five million dollars was used by the Ministry of Education to construct and repair two hundred and seventy schools around the country in 2015.

Education Minister Mahendra Reddy revealed this in parliament while responding to a question posed by Dr Brij Lal.

Reddy says never before government have used such large sum of money to carry out capital projects in schools.

“In addition the additional work that we have done in the Ministry of Education, number of schools large number of schools have been assisted through Prime Minister’s Office for additional classrooms, ambulation blocks, boarding facilities and etc.”

Reddy says to repair all the schools requires amount of investment as these issues have been neglected by past governments

The government together with the Ministry of Education will continue to work towards providing the best learning environment for students.
