The Education Ministry has instructed all secondary school teachers to prepare Year 12 and 13 students for the final exams.
Acting Permanent Secretary Basundra Kumar says students must realise that this final school term is important if they want to get financial assistance for tertiary studies.
Teachers in secondary schools are devoting all their time in preparing the students for the examination together with that we have provided advisory to the schools for the TELS and Toppers scholarship and loans scheme. And we have encouraged our schools to compete with students getting over three hundred marks so that they can qualify for the Toppers. Only six hundred students will be given that scholarship.
Kumar adds students have been informed of fields they can venture into once they complete high school.
We have also reminded the schools that the government has priority areas like for engineering for heart specialist, road supervisors and all these areas where children should take interest. And also those who are not qualified for Toppers but if they want to join a tertiary institution, they can take a loan or opt for a TELS program.
Year 12 students will be seating for their final exams from the 3rd of November to the 14th while Year 13 students will have theirs on the 27th of Oct to the 7th of November.
