It’s been discovered that some schools continue to misuse government grants allocated to them and this is a concern.
Education Minister Rosy Akbar has called on school Principals they will be held accountable if grants are not utilized well.
She says it’s important for heads of schools around the country to know their allocation as well as be aware of what has been used in a school event.
“Please work within, when you do your plan, you budget for the year, a few dollars here and there is ok, but plan it, make sure you plan your year.”
The Education Minister has issued a stern warning to Principals to take responsibility in deciding what the grants are allocated for.
Akbar says this is not the duty of the school manager adding that managers must never over rule principals.
She’s advising school heads to stand their ground and draw a line between their role and of the school manager.
