Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says they want to reclaim the teachers and get them back to their core responsibilities of teaching and learning.
Speaking at the National Education Conference in Lautoka Dr Reddy said they will reduce teacher administrative load by a minimum of 60%.
He says the under the Education gazette a number of administrative works will be taken away from them.
“Data entry into the education information system, distribution of bus fare vouchers to students etc. There are number of thing – the kinds of record keepings etc which does not affect quality will be taken away from them. Those work will not be done by admin officers which is paid by the Ministry’s grant to the school.”
Dr Reddy says they will also be looking at teachers teaching classes one and two.
He says they will train teachers who have five years of experience into infant teaching as they do not want fresh graduates to teach them.
These teachers who will begin teaching from 2016 will get a different salary package.
