Education Minister explains Intermediate Exam Results

November 18, 2015 12:39 am

Education Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy has clarified the Year six Intermediate Exam results which in some cases showed scores of zero.

Dr. Reddy says administrative laxity and unclear identification on test papers may have attributed to the unexpected results which were released on the ministry’s website last week.

“Why some students’ results are not appearing? The students set for the exam and we lost the script or the script is in school or the script has been misplaced. Why some students are getting zero? Did the students actually get zero or is there an issue if you compare with the annual result? Those kind of things, kind of feedback we need from them (schools) to fix the situation with regards to the provisional results. We note that a lot of scripts have index numbers missing."

Dr. Reddy is adamant that there have been no errors in the computer software that they’ve used to mark the exam papers and that these provisional results are not the official results of the students.

The Ministry he says is working with schools to release the final results by the end of this week.
