The Education Ministry has welcomed a suggestion to introduce Fiji’s history including Fiji’s participation in World War I and II, Maleya and Solomons in the school curriculum.
Education Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy was responding to the suggestion by the Fiji Returned Soldiers and Ex-Serviceman President, Ratu Peni Volavola yesterday.
Reddy says the comment has come at a right time.
“This year we’re still revising the curriculum and I think it’s a very timely statement that he said we’re teaching history of other countries. Our history is not taught exhaustively so I agree with him and I will ensure that History is adequately covered in our Literature covered in our Literature.”
Speaking at the Remembrance Day service yesterday, Ratu Peni Volavola recommended schools to learn more about the history of our fallen soldiers who fought for the country during these wars.
