Economy projected to have grown by 4.2%: RBF

The Reserve Bank in its quarterly review has stated that the Fijian economy is projected to have grown by 4.2 percent last year.

This is a positive growth for the eighth consecutive year, following an estimated growth of 0.4 percent in 2016.

The RBF says better than expected performance from tourism, electricity and sugar sectors continued to drive the economic expansion.

It says consumption activity remained firm in the December quarter supported by increased new vehicle registrations and new credit for consumption purposes.

The RBF says similarly investment activity remained steady, backed by increased in new lending for investment purposes.
