Economy Ministry to host online budget consultations

The Ministry of Economy is posed to host online national budget consultations from next month.

It is working to build on the momentum of previous public consultations.

In a statement, the Ministry notes to keep building the best national budgets possible, there is a need to bring the voices of Fijians to the decision making table.

Having begun preparations for the 2019-2020 National Budget, the Ministry is once again calling on all Fijians to put forward their questions, ideas and feedback at the nationwide consultations.

For the first time, there will be online consultations on Facebook, with special sessions dedicated to secondary students, tertiary students and the general public.

During these three online sessions, the Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will be live to respond directly to questions commented under clearly identified posts on the designated Facebook page account.

Secondary school students will have their session on the 5th of March from 12pm to 3pm.

Tertiary school students the following day on the 6th of March from 5pm to 8pm.

For the general public, online consultations are scheduled for the 7th of March from 5pm to 9pm.

The statement goes on to say that each day of the consultations, they will be posting a video message.

As such, the general public can simply comment your questions, ideas and feedback under the video, and the Minister for Economy and his team will strive to answer as many questions as possible during the online consultation.
